What can you expect from the Gold Set? For starters “The Rocket” really responds in surprising ways to rolling in different voltage gain tubes (v1). And for this Set we’ve chosen the mil spec Voskhod 6N1P-EV, which is a unique preamp tube with excellent clarity and an open sound that’s impossible to describe, but well worth trying!

Note “-EV” means “extended service life” and a robust build designed to withstand extreme service duty.

The NEVZ 6N6P is probably “the best” unknown vintage tube, it does a great job no matter what the circuit is that we plug it into. But if it does one thing extremely well, it’s probably as a Cathode Follower. The reason is, the current pushing capability of this tube far exceeds the demands of The Rocket circuit – but that’s a good thing!
