The Silver Set includes two (2) NOS (new old stock) tubes. They are Tested and Section Matched. In addition because the Cathode Follower stage pushes current, the 6N6P is current matched (mA).

Description

What can you expect from the Silver Set? For starters “The Rocket” really responds in surprising ways to rolling in different voltage gain tubes (v1). And for this Set we’ve chosen the GE 6BZ7, which is a TV tube repurposed as a preamp voltage gain tube. Once in a while we get lucky and find a totally unknown tube that was made for a different (but similar) service. The 6BZ7 does everything really well and makes for another good tube rolling option, that may just surprise you!

The NEVZ 6N6P is probably “the best” unknown vintage tube, it does a great job no matter what the circuit is that we plug it into. But if it does one thing extremely well, it’s probably as a Cathode Follower. The reason is, the current pushing capability of this tube far exceeds the demands of The Rocket circuit – but that’s a good thing!
