6N1P Balanced Platinum Tube Set

The Platinum Set includes five (5) NOS (new old stock) tubes. They are Tested and Section Matched. In addition because the Cathode Follower stage pushes a wee bit of current, the 6N6P is current matched (mA).

What can you expect from the Platinum Set?

For V1 and V2 you will get the best NOS (New Old Stock) 6CG7 tubes we have available. The 6CG7 is the direct 9 pin equivalent of the 6SN7 and tends to have a warmer mid range and excellent detail.

For V3, you get one NOS (New Old Stock) Voskhod “Rocket” 6N1P-EV tube.

For V4 / V5, we’re using the NEVZ 6N6P, which is probably “The Best” unknown vintage tube, it does a great job no matter what the circuit is that we plug it into. But if it does one thing extremely well, it’s probably as a Cathode Follower. The reason is, the current pushing capability of this tube far exceeds the demands of circuit – and you can instantly hear the sonic improvements, particularly in the lower frequences.

Note: The 6CG7 is lower gain compared to the 6N1P-EV.
