What do you get with the Starter Set? Well it depends on what we currently have in stock.
For the V1 and V2 Voltage Gain Tubes you’re likely to receive a NOS or Good Used pair of GE, RCA, or Reflector 6SL7 or 12SL7 tubes.
NOTE: The correct SMPS (6v or 12vdc) will depend on the voltage of your tubes. If you are only ordering a Starter Set, go ahead and purchase either a 6v or 12vdc SMPS and we’ll ship the correct SMPS for your Set of tubes.
For v3, we’re using the NEVZ 6N6P, which is probably “the best” unknown vintage tube, it does a great job no matter what the circuit is that we plug it into. But if it does one thing extremely well, it’s probably as a Cathode Follower. The reason is, the current pushing capability of this tube far exceeds the demands of circuit – but that’s a good thing!
NOTE: This set of tubes may have minor visible defects, not be as tightly matched as those provided in the regular sets and/or have a slightly higher noise floor. But they are fully tested and cleared for significant noise.
